Chapter One :Chapter 1

It was a hot summer day.

On the Pine Hill University campus, it was filled with young, energetic boys and girls, showing off their slender legs.

You couldn't help but marvel at the wonderfulness of college life.

In front of the canteen, a delicate and pretty girl was holding two bags of bread in her hands. She was eating as she walked.

When she finished a bag, she frowned and couldn't eat anymore.

So she threw the rest of the bread into the rubbish bin.

Right at this moment, a shadowy figure darted over. He reached out and grabbed the bag of bread.

"You don't want this anymore, do you?"

The girl was surprised by the boy and nodded instinctively.

Hearing that, the boy looked happy. He excitedly opened the plastic bag, grabbed the bread, and stuffed it into his mouth, as if he hadn't eaten for days.

Seeing this, the girl almost vomited. Although the bread was wrapped in a plastic bag, it had been thrown into the rubbish bin.

However, the boy didn't mind at all. He seemed to be enjoying the bread very much.

"You..."

The girl thought she met a lunatic and was afraid that he would pester her, so she hurried to the dormitory. Only when she entered the dormitory did she let out a sigh of relief.

However, the boy didn't care at all that the passers-by were looking at him with disdain. When he finished the last slices of bread, he patted his belly with satisfaction.

"D*mn, I finally have a full meal after days. Alas, I don't know when this misery will end."

The boy smiled bitterly and shook his head as if he were laughing at his own inadequacy.

Judging from his clothes, it was obvious that the boy was not rich. He probably didn't even have a hundred dollars to his name.

The boy threw the plastic bag in his hand into the rubbish bin and was about to leave.

"Jordyn? What... what are you doing here?"

The boy turned his head abruptly and saw a gorgeous girl standing behind him. She looked incredulous.

The boy rubbed his greasy hands against his pants in a panic and lowered his head uneasily. He whispered, "I... I..."

"Are you eating rubbish?"

"No, no, that bread is clean. I... I just don't have money..." The boy explained anxiously.

The boy's name was Jordyn Brooks, and the girl standing in front of him was his girlfriend, Alisha Spears.

Alisha was confused. "Why don't you have money? You're working, aren't you? Where's your salary?"

Hearing this, Jordyn laughed sheepishly. He scratched his head and said, "It's your birthday in a few days, and you needed a phone, so I bought you a new one. Here, take a look and see if you like it."

Jordyn took out a brand new phone from his pocket and handed it to Alisha. Alisha stared at the contrast between Jordyn's dirty hands and the brand-new phone.

Immediately, her eyes welled up. Alisha covered her mouth and said in a choked voice, "Jordyn, this must be so tiring for you. You don't have to do this for me!"

"No! You're worth it! I can do anything for you!"

Jordyn took a step forward, wanting to grab Alisha's hand. However, Alisha took a step back and dodged Jordyn. She whispered, "No, Jordyn, you must be so tired. I think we made a mistake when we started dating back then. I didn't think that I would be such a huge burden to you. We should break up!"

"Break up? Why?"

These two words rang in Jordyn's ears like thunder. He stood there in a daze. He had never thought that after all his efforts to give Alisha a better life, she would break up with him.

"I'm tired of this!"

"And that's the only reason?"

"Yes, it's that simple."

"I don't believe you. It's impossible." Jordyn was in disbelief. "Things between us have always been fine. Something must have happened. Tell me, and we'll solve it together."

"This is it. I'm just here to break the news to you."

After saying that, Alisha turned around and was about to leave. Jordyn grabbed her hand and said, "You must be hiding something from me. Tell me, and we'll fix it together."

"That's enough!"

Alisha shook off his hand and said, "You will never ever be able to give me the life I want."

"I..."

Jordyn stuttered and didn't know what to say.

This was totally different from what he had imagined. When he came to his senses, Alisha had already walked to a red Maserati, opened the door of the passenger seat, and got in.

When he looked at the car, it looked very familiar. When he finally saw the number plate, he felt that his vision turned black and he almost fainted. Fortunately, he held onto the utility pole next to him.

"This can't be true. Alisha isn't this kind of girl. My eyes must be deceiving me."

The car belonged to none other than the famous playboy in Jordyn's school. Rumor had it that one-third of the pretty girls in the school had been in his car, and that was obviously a euphemism for something else. That was why Jordyn was so crushed.

However, he still couldn't believe his eyes. He couldn't help but step forward for a closer look, only to find that his beloved Alisha was nestled in the arms of a man. She no longer looked like she was crying.

Jordyn felt his blood pressure rising. He couldn't help but want to confront Alisha.

At this moment, a strong, firm hand grabbed Jordyn.

"Jordyn, that's enough. Let's go back."

The tanned and sturdy boy was Uriah Allen, Jordyn's roommate.

"Uriah, let go of me. I just want to know why!"

Jordyn said to Uriah agitatedly.

Uriah dragged Jordyn to a quiet corner and said in a deep voice: "Dude, don't be silly! Don't you understand? This woman is playing with you. She never liked you. She only likes money! Don't you get it?"

"I have money! I bought her a new phone!"

Looking at the brand-new mobile phone in Jordyn' hands, Uriah felt an indescribable feeling in his heart.

"Jordyn, do you know what kind of mobile phone Alisha is using now? It's an apple X! It's ten times more expensive than the phone you got her. It was a gift from that playboy. Do you really think she just didn't want to burden you? The truth is that she despises your cheap phone! Wake up!"

Uriah shook Jordyn's shoulders while Jordyn zoned out. He could not accept this cruel reality.

After a long time, Jordyn said faintly,

"Uriah, let go of me."

"Jordyn, don't be silly..."

"Don't worry, I'm not going to find her. I just want to be alone for a while."

Uriah was very worried when he saw Jordyn's lifeless expression, but he also knew that his advice was useless. Jordyn needed to get through this on his own.

There was nothing Uriah could do except let out a long sigh and said: "Alright, Jordyn, if you need anything, just call me. I'm here for you."

Jordyn remained silent.

Seeing that Jordyn didn't respond, Uriah shook his head and left.

After Uriah disappeared from his sight, Jordyn leaned against the wall and slowly sat down on the ground as if he had been drained of all his energy.

"Clack! Clack! Clack!"

A series of slow footsteps rang in Jordyn's ears. He covered his head with both hands and said in a deep voice, "I told you to leave me alone!"

"Mr Brooks, the Elders Council has decided to reinstate your status as the 13th heir and we will unfreeze all your assets. As of this moment, you have officially returned to the family."

A cold and mechanical voice came from above Jordyn.

Jordyn raised his head in shock. The familiar suit and the usual poker face could only mean that this was someone from his family.

After saying this, the emotionless man with sunglasses turned around and left without looking back. He came here just to convey this simple message.

Jordyn did not react to his departure, because his mind was full of what the man had said.

"My status has been reinstated? I'm the 13th heir again?"

Jordyn slowly turned around and walked in the opposite direction.

At the end of that road stood a magnificent building, the Elite Financial Corp.
